Registration, price and exam day
The test itself is the easy part. What people spend most time figuring out is how to register, what it costs, and what happens on the day.

The price is what surprises people
There is no national price. Each kommune sets its own fee, and the differences are large. We track 57 kommuner, and there the price ranges between 600 and 1,300 kroner, with 1,000 as the most common level.
That means the neighbouring kommune could be several hundred kroner cheaper, and you are free to register there.
You register with the test centre, not with UDI
This is a common misunderstanding. UDI processes your application for residence or citizenship. The test is handled by a completely different body: a test centre, usually linked to the adult education centre in a kommune. You contact them directly.
Bring ID
Valid photo ID is an absolute requirement. If you turn up without it, you will not be allowed to take the test, and the fee is still paid. This is the most common reason people get sent home.
