What happens on exam day?

It's less dramatic than people think. Here's the order of events.

1. Registration

You arrive, show valid photo ID and get checked off. Phones and other belongings are put away.

2. You take a seat in front of a screen

The exam is digital and taken on the venue's equipment. You get a short introduction to how to navigate: how to answer, how to move on, and how to submit.

3. The exam itself

Up to 60 minutes. Multiple-choice questions with three options, one correct. You can skip a question and come back to it.

Most people use far less than the full hour. On our own practice exams, half finish in under 16 minutes. Nerves will play their part, but you won't be sitting there watching the time run out.

4. You submit

When you're finished, or when the time is up.

5. The result

The exam is marked automatically, so you usually find out the outcome quickly. The exam venue will explain how the result is communicated to you.

One thing to keep in mind

Four of the questions don't count. They're new questions being trialled, and they aren't marked as such. If you come across something that seems oddly unreasonable, don't spend five minutes on it. Answer, and move on.
