How many questions are there in the samfunnskunnskapsprøven?
You get 38 questions. Of these, 34 count towards your score. The last four are new questions that HK-dir is trialling, and they don't affect your result.
Why four questions don't count
The question bank needs to be refreshed. New questions must be tried out on real candidates before they can be used to decide whether someone passes, otherwise no one knows if a question is too hard, too easy, or simply badly worded. That's why four trial questions are included in every sitting.
You won't find out which four they are.
What this means for you
Two things.
Don't let a strange question steal your time. If you come across a question that seems unreasonably hard or oddly worded, there's a real chance it doesn't count anyway. Answer with your best guess and move on.
Your maths is 26 out of 34, not 26 out of 38. That's 76 per cent, not 68. The test is stricter than it looks at first glance, and it's worth knowing when you're deciding whether you're ready.

Statsborgerprøven (the Norwegian citizenship test) is built the same way, but slightly smaller: 36 questions, 32 that count, 24 correct to pass.
