Welfare is among the heavier topics on the test. The goal of tax-funded welfare alone is worth nearly 7 per cent.

Why it's heavy going

Because it ties together several things people usually learn separately: tax, social security, work, and which bodies do what. NAV, the kommune and Skatteetaten (the Norwegian Tax Administration) have different roles, and the test's questions often use exactly that as the dividing line between answer options.

With nearly 7 per cent riding on one goal, this is one of the topics where reading actually pays off the most per hour.
